I really respect him for the way he has groomed himself. He has become one of the biggest metro sexual stars, most stylish fashion icon and he is so successful that I am proud of him. Just look from where he has come and where he has reached," says Rocky

However, he is no longer designing for Akshay.

"I started designing for Akshay in 1992. But I stopped working with him in 2000 because I had to move on. Also, both of us needed to take a break from each other," he added.

Unlike most other Indian designers who started their career by showcasing their collections at fashion shows, Rocky started his stint designing for Bollywood stars.

"I started 16 years back. At that time the only opportunity I got was in Bollywood. I think it was good for me, as it has created awareness about my brand. I have met a lot of actors who want to wear clothes designed by me."

Currently Rocky's clientele includes big names like John Abraham, Katrina Kaif, Bipasha Basu and Shilpa Shetty.

Rocky claimed: "The people I dress up are the best dressed. They are really great with clothes. They have a great body to carry off anything and they have a good style of their own."

Talking about the likings of his female clients, he added: "Shilpa likes deeper and rich Indian colours. She likes to wear emerald, she loves red and it really suits her. Even Bipasha likes red. Katrina likes pastel and lighter shades."

His most recent project was the hit flick Singh Is Kinng. He dressed Katrina in the film and is also working with her in Yuvraj. Apart from that he has designed Bipasha's clothes for Pankh and Kangana Ranaut's for Raaz - The Mystery Continues.

Rocky says designing for the actors is challenging.

"It is fun to work with actors and also challenging to make them look different every time. It is also a challenge for them to get into a character every time with different clothes and looks. A lot of hard work is required in Bollywood."

On an average, Rocky takes up almost four projects in a year.

The Mumbai-based designer entered mainstream fashion around 1997 to cater to the general public. He introduced the collection under his label Rocky S.

"When I started, fashion was not even taking off in a very big manner and I think it was after four to five years that I felt the need to do creative work for myself. That's when I started doing clothes that were more wearable and saleable.

"I came at the right time for mainstream fashion. Luckily, I have kept a very good balance between Bollywood and mainstream fashion till now," he said.

He is gearing up to participate in the upcoming Spring-Summer edition of the Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week (WIFW) to be held in the capital

The Ultimate Metrosexual Action Hero?

I recently saw the movie "You Don't Mess With The Zohan"
It's an excellent movie.
What hasn’t been done is making the action hero the ultimate metrosexual. Zohan is equally obsessed with looks and Mariah Carey . . .
Basically Adam Sandler is Zohan, an Israeli counter-terrorist who dreams of working in a hair salon in America. Wjhat he does is he fakes his death early in the movie during a fight with his rival Phantom (John Turturro) so he can move to New York. Of course his past will follow him there, even as he tries to start a relationship with Emmanuelle Chriqui. The film is unlike any other “Sandler” movie with the use of CGI and wire-fu action scenes. Zohan does impossible stunts – even more ridiculous than Will Smith’s Hancock – and while occasionally amusing, it’s been done many times before and better.

For some excellent products for the Metrosexual Man I recomend you visit www.metrosexualman.co.uk

Obama the Metrosexual

A very interesting article taken from
http://masculineheart.blogspot.com/2008/05/metrosexuals-versus-manly-men-obama-vs.html
An interesting article over the Moderate Voice raises the issue of whether or not Obama is too metrosexual (read: girlie) to be Commander in Chief.

Metrosexuals versus manly men: a reason voters will prefer McCain to Obama?

May 23rd, 2008 by JILL MILLER ZIMON

Types like she laughs: I never thought about it this way before, but John Ettorre just left a very interesting and unique (because I’d yet to see the argument made nor had it ever occurred to me before now) comment on this thread with Ellen Bravo’s ten reasons why women should vote for Obama if he is the candidate.

Writes John:

And reason #11: he’s a metrosexual, with all the effeminate qualities that entails. They’re off-putting to many males (me included), and I predict it will be among the leading reasons for sinking his chances in the general election. [emphasis added]

This kind of idea is very far afield to me because I really don’t view people in those terms, or at least, I don’t think about metrosexuals at all.

I can’t remember seeing a microtargeting category of metrosexuals but here’s what you can find on Google if you put in “metrosexual Obama.” Results in the “news” search are here. I don’t have time to go through many of them, so let me just link to a couple:

This letter to the editor, in Maine, goes right to the military comparison and is not complimentary to Obama.

But this article in U.S. News & World Report takes the position that Obama is more of a woman than Clinton and that that implies that women will not lose if Obama is the nominee (fun note: that article was written on 2/13/08 and says that the race was Obama’s to lose, then).

This just gets too wrapped up in genderizing the qualities that go with being a leader and again, being short on time, I’ll leave the comments as a place for people to explore whether we are evolved enough to realize that we should be selecting our leaders based on those qualities, and not by saying things like “he’s more a woman than Clinton” or “McCain is more of a manly man.” What is that supposed to do for us? Some people identify women’s qualities as not being ones akin to leadership, others go the opposite direction. And manly men in the way people refer to someone like McCain totally turn me off. Feh.

Anyway - manly men or metrosexuals? What do people think?

Let's just assume for the sake of argument that Obama is a metrosexual, meaning ....

a neologism generally applied to heterosexual men with a strong concern for their appearance, or whose lifestyles display attributes stereotypically seen among gay men. The metro- (city) prefix indicates this man's purely urban lifestyle, while the -sexual suffix comes from "heterosexual," meaning that this man, although he is usually straight, embodies the heightened aesthetic sense often associated with certain types of gay men.
Doesn't that describe all politicians to some degree? Isn't that why these men (and women) have stylists, to make them look good?

Putting aside the issue of appearance and grooming, which is only a surface issue anyway, there is something else at work here.

By metrosexual, many people mean effeminate. In Obama's case, there might be some psychological truth to that assertion. He was raised without a strong and present father figure, a situation that often leaves men more "feminine" than those raised with fathers who could guide them into some form of mature masculinity.

This is of special interest to me and I'll be blogging more about it over time. I navigated my teen years without a father, which left me struggling for years to develop a mature masculinity that is both sensitive and strong. I suspect Obama did the same thing.

Is Obama a metrosexual? I don't know. But I do suspect that he is more balanced in his psychology than is McCain (the archetypal masculine image, ala John Wayne). Is it a bad thing that Obama has more access to his feminine subpersonality? I don't think so -- to me it seems a positive trait that can make him a more effective leader (this may account for his skills at coalition building in the Senate).

I'm sure we will be hearing more about this in the coming months. I will also be blogging here more about "father loss" and "absent fathers" and how this impacts masculinity.

15 quick fashion tips for you

Here are 15 quick fashion tips for you:

1. Never underestimate the power of details – The last thing on is usually the first thing noticed. So mind the details instead of throwing together the main parts of your outfit.

2. Keep it simple – You want a wardrobe that looks great on you but you don’t want to overdo it. If it’s not who you are don’t throw together too many flashy items. For example, a simpler but stylish look would be sporting a black striped dress shirt with a white blazer, coupled with a white belt and dark blue jeans, and dress shoes. You could also add a flashy watch or a simple accessory like an interesting necklace.

3. A garment should never be made of more than 25 percent of an unnatural fiber – You’re skin needs to breathe, don’t kill yourself. Cotton is the best fabric.

4. Experiment with style – The only way you’ll really learn, is if you go out there and try new things. If you make mistakes, life goes on.

5. Never go shopping alone – You can never really trust the sales people because they may just want to sell you something. Someone who really knows you will always give you an objective opinion.

6. Don’t overdo it – When you overdo it, you’ll not only look like a clown, but like you’re crying for attention.

7. Never wear anything sheer – Nobody wants to play peek-a-boo with your nipples.

8. Spend within reason – Shopping is highly encouraged, but if you’re digging yourself into major credit card debt, stop yourself before it becomes a costly addiction.

9. Fashion Tees with logos – When you’re going around with a big logo on your shirt, you risk looking like a walking billboard.

10. Disregard trends – You shouldn’t wear something just because it’s “in” right now. Find what looks good on you, and embrace it. Be yourself, don’t try to look like someone else just because it’s “in.”

11. Don’t be a sucker for brand names - Look at the item itself rather than be swayed by a brand name. Before you decide to purchase an item, ask yourself if you are buying it because it’s “in style” or because it genuinely suits you. Ask yourself if you would buy the garment if it didn’t have a logo on it.

12. Stay away from clogs and Crocs - They look good on nobody. Enough said.

13. An undershirt is an undershirt - An undershirt is meant to be worn underneath your dress shirt or sweater to absorb the sweat, dirt, and body oils that we all inevitable secrete. This way you might be able to get away with not having to launder the shirt every time you were it, and you shirt will be around for even longer. Please do not wear a wife beater, v-neck, or crew-neck undershirt alone with jeans.

14. Getting a manicure or waxing your eyebrows - doing these things does not make you gay. If you are in need of one of these, don’t think twice.

15. How to wear sweaters - Some sweaters are lean and other are big and chunky. The first rule of thumb is that your top and bottom haves need to match. If you’re wearing a big, chunky, rugged fisherman knit sweater, your bottom needs to be rugged, too. Don’t wear a fisherman’s sweater with a beautiful silk-and-wool suit pant, Instead, wear it with something as casual as cargoes or jeans, or dress it up with a Harris tweed blazer.

Develop Excellent Body Language

Accentuating Attractive Body Language

Good body language will show alpha male traits and attractive traits like dominance, strength, relaxed confidence, and being at secure with oneself and at ease around a woman.

See if you have all these areas covered when around women:

Take up space - taking up space shows that you are dominant and displays confidence through a sense of entitled territory, so instead of folding inwards in a crowded area, spread out a little. A good rule of thumb is sitting or standing comfortably like you would if it was your place

When sitting, spread legs comfortably past shoulder width - you can also slightly lean to one side to look more relaxed instead of being asymmetrical

Be relaxed - check if any part of your body language is displaying that you are tense. Make sure your arms are uncrossed, you are not sitting in a way where you are about to spring into action, and your body is not tense in any area

Smile and laugh - being relaxed doesn’t mean you have to have a boring look like you’re about to fall asleep, it means that you’re enjoying yourself and having fun

Focus your eyes on who are talking - focused eye contact will show that you are present with the girl, and not in your head thinking of your next line, which will send the wrong vibe that you are needy and anxious to please

Lean back - a simple way to show that you are relaxed

Avoid being jumpy - low status guys are always jumpy, ready to hop up and please a woman, to do whatever she wants

Move slow and deliberately - control your movements by moving with purpose instead of in reaction, it’ll display that you are calm and collected in the situation. The dominant alpha male will do what he wants on his own terms, slow and deliberately

When standing, keep chin up and head up with your back and neck straight - avoid being slumped over, a lot of guys don’t keep their necks straight and this can display a lack of strength and poise. A good exercise for this is to stand with your back against a wall and make sure your head is slightly touching the wall as well

Feet and legs should be shoulder with apart when standing - show women that you have a package down there you need to work around and make room for

If you’re holding a drink, hold the drink down by your waist - do not hold your drink in front of your chest, while talking to a woman, it shows defensiveness just like crossing your arms, like you’re guarding yourself

15 Quick Fashion Tips

If you want to look fabulous then head on down to www.metrosexualman.eu

Jeans Guide for Metrosexuals

For most, men's jeans are the most valuable player of the wardrobe. Usually, this isn't because they're the most expensive piece of clothing we own, or even the best-looking. Instead, it's their versatility that's important, as you can wear jeans around the house, in the workplace or on casual outings. Despite this usefulness, however, finding that perfect pair of men's jeans is never easy.

So what should you look for when searching for that perfect pair of jeans? Aside from the best possible price, here are some tips and ideas to keep in mind.

Look for timeless jeans

It's hard to say what will be in style a year from today, but by sticking more or less with tried and true denim styles, you can aim for and land a pair of jeans that will remain stylish for years. Here are three classic examples:

Original blue jeans: Evolving from rough and tumble work wear, these are now one of the most versatile pieces of clothing you can own.

Slightly faded blue jeans: More casual wear than anything else, these can nevertheless also look hip with a nice sports coat and shirt.

Dirty denim: These can be a faded brownish rusty color or blue dirty denim. More stylized than regular blue jeans, these are still subtle enough to stand the test of time.

Flashier colors like red are always off-limits in terms of timelessness, and you should also try to avoid black or white jeans. Black jeans often fall out of favor with the fashionistas, and unless you're Don Johnson, there's no reason in hell to buy a white pair.

Consider when you'll be wearing them

It goes without saying that being comfortable in your jeans is the most important thing; after all, even the best-looking pair of jeans will look odd if you're uncomfortable in them. Nevertheless, keeping in mind when and where you'll wear your jeans will make the process of choosing much easier.

If, for example, you only wear suits to work, your jeans might be reserved strictly for going out or for lounging around the house, which means you have few restrictions when selecting a look and style. If your work environment allows jeans, however, denim might be everyday wear. In that case, you might have to consider more conservative styles, as even in the most casual workplaces, subtlety goes a long way. Either way, always ensure your jeans look good with sneakers, boots or dress shoes.

Pick a pair with some flare

Just because you're looking for more classic styles doesn't mean you have to pick a boring pair of jeans. Subtle, classic looks can still have some flare. To look sharp, steer clear of tight fits toward the bottom of the leg, tapered pants or the wide bell-bottomed look. A good choice is a straight leg or boot cut (which are slightly flared).

Get the right fit

No matter how great the jeans, if the fit is wrong for your body, they'll look ridiculous on you. First, make sure the legs, crotch and waist areas are not too tight. You should also see if they look good from behind (even if it makes you feel vain). Remember, if you're not sure, try other styles.

Also, because jeans are likely to shrink, it's not a good idea to get just the right length. Buying them longer than necessary gives you the opportunity to fold them over or make any desired alterations.

Reproduce your normal wearing conditions

The best way to test the worth of your new jeans is to put them through a trial run. Walk around the store with them and check the pocket space and your level of comfort when sitting down. Can they handle your keys? Wallet? Are they itchy or too warm for certain seasons?

You should also make sure to try them on with the belt you wear most. This will show you where the waist falls on you, if the jeans match your belt and if the loops can hold your belt properly.

Finally, try on jeans with the shoes you wear most often, and keep in mind that aside from seeing if the colors match, you want to know how the pants fall. If the jeans are too long, fold them over to approximate how they would look once hemmed. Remember, the back cuff should be aligned with the top part of the sole.

Make sure they've been pre-shrunk

Everyone knows how irritating shrinking a perfectly good pair of jeans is, especially when you're forced to walk around with the "ready for a flood" look. Making sure they're preshrunk will cut down on the damage; any additional shrinking will be minimal. Remember though, it's always a good idea to get jeans slightly longer than needed.

caring for your jeans

Wash the jeans before hemming them

Washing before hemming will put the denim through any initial shrinking before you take more away. Just to be safe though, take off a little less than necessary when having them hemmed. If you need an inch taken off, go for two-thirds of an inch instead, which will buffer any future shrinkage.

Wash the jeans inside out

The first time you wash your jeans, wash them alone. Unfortunately, different occasions call for different dress codes, and as much as you'd like to go to your best buddy's wedding wearing your favorite pair of jeans and a white T-shirt, you just can't.

It's time to shed some light on the appropriate dress code for some of the occasions and events you're most likely to have to attend.

Wedding
Not only is buying gifts a pain in the butt, but so is trying to figure out what to wear. The fact is that your dress will depend in part on the wedding, and whether or not you play a role in it.

If you're the best man, chances are the bride and groom will have already picked out what you'll be wearing. If your attire hasn't been chosen for you, then the basic rule of thumb is to look as good as you can without upstaging the groom.

What to wear: This usually means opting for a classic tuxedo. The same goes for black-tie affairs, even if you're not at the head table. If you don't own one, renting is pretty affordable. Expect to pay between $50 and $150 for a two-day tux rental. As with anything, shop around to get the best deal.

There are a variety of styles available for tuxedos nowadays. You can go with the classic bow tie and cummerbund look, or you can choose to be a little more daring and go for a vest and tie combo.

If you're just another guest and the wedding invitation said nothing about dress code, a nice suit and tie is your best bet.

Funeral
Unlike a wedding, the dress code at a funeral is the same regardless of your affiliation to the deceased. The idea is that you want your look to be subdued. Dressing appropriately is a sign of respect.

What to wear: Dark colored suits, such as navy, charcoal or black are the way to go. Avoid ties and shirts with loud patterns or bright colors. For example, a black suit with a white shirt and a simple burgundy tie is perfectly acceptable.

Make sure you're well groomed; the key word is neat. Finally, black shoes are recommended.

First date
What you wear on a first date depends on the gal and the locale. However, better to spring for a fancier venue if it means you can show off how good you look in your classy threads.

What to wear: There are a few fairly safe combinations you can put together. An open-collared shirt under a jacket is a good way to go. This option has the added bonus that if she gets chilly during the date, you can offer her the jacket to put over her shoulders. Another way to go is a wool or cotton sweater (crew or V-neck over a shirt).

In terms of pants, wool or cotton are both great options. If you're feeling a little adventurous, you can even go with corduroy. For a more laid-back look, a nice pair of trendy jeans can do the trick. Black leather loafers are a safe bet no matter where you're going. If you want to be trendier, spring for a suede shoe or a designer running shoe, like Diesel.

You'll want to add your favorite cologne to the mix. I suggest something along the lines of Jean-Paul Gaultier or Byblos to really make her melt.

Meeting the parents
Meeting the parents is all about the first impression. If you've got a quirky personality, now is not the time to let it show. Let them fall in love with you first, and then let them get to know you a bit better.

Chances are her dad is going to be looking for faults from the get-go, so don't be afraid to ask your girlfriend what he likes and what he doesn't like regarding fashion and style.

What to wear: You can't go wrong if you dress in a conservative manner. A good example would be a pair of khakis with a tucked in dress shirt or a polo shirt. You can choose between black or brown shoes, but leave the alligator skins at home for the day.

Being cleanly shaved is a plus. If you have long hair, make sure that it's not in your eyes all the time, because eye contact is very important.

A note about cologne: You may want to pass on it. Some scents may be a little bit too radical for your lady's parents, or they may even be allergic to it. A quick shower beforehand should do the trick just fine.

VIP lounge / nightclub
When you're hitting the clubs, you need to remember your objectives: to land a few ladies' numbers, or at least get in a few dances. In other words, dress to impress. You want to be trendy.

What to wear: Leave the faded jeans and sneakers at home if you want to be able to get into the trendy clubs. At the same time, don't look like you just came from the office. This is a good time to break out your vintage clothes or your patterned button-down shirts. You don't want to look uptight, so make sure you've got an open collar and your shirt isn't tucked.

Clubs, especially those that are packed with hot chicks who grind to the music all night, tend to get sweaty. Use cologne liberally, but not to the point where the girl dancing with you needs to crane her neck backward for fear of being asphyxiated.

A big part of looking good has to do with confidence and attitude, so don't look like you're trying too hard. Don't be that guy who's wearing shades when it's pitch black in the club. Leave the black spandex tee to the bouncer.

Job interview
Job interviews are tricky to dress for because what you wear can vary greatly depending on the company and the position. It's easy to come in underdressed and look unprofessional, or to come in overdressed and look like you're trying too hard.

What to wear: If you're interviewing for a prestigious corporate law firm, or for a position in the financial sector, there's no question that you should dress conservatively: dark suits and tasteful tie and shirt combinations. Over-the-top patterns are frowned upon, but a pin-stripe suit is both classy and sophisticated.

If, however, you're interviewing for a job with a new age IT firm, the suit and tie method may not be the best idea. Many of these companies, especially on the West Coast, have little to no dress code. For that kind of setting, a pair of trousers with a button-down shirt may be all that you need. Tucked in or not will depend largely on the corporate culture of the firm. Try to get some inside information from friends or acquaintances in the industry before your interview.

When in doubt, overdress. It is much easier to dress down while you're in the waiting room -- by removing your suit jacket, for example -- than to kick it up a notch if you're too casual. Make sure that you feel at ease in whatever you wear, as this will help you to remain relaxed, cool and confident.

Regardless of what job you're being interviewed for, it's important that you remain well-groomed. No one wants to hire a slob. Clean-shaven or neatly trimmed facial hair is essential. If you choose to wear cologne, remember that, in most interview settings, you won't be sitting close enough for the interviewer to smell it. If he does, that means you're wearing too much.

"Casual" events
Have you ever wondered what it means when you get an invitation to a dinner party or some other event and the dress code is "casual"? Or what about those "casual" Fridays at the office?

Let me define the word by telling you what it's not. It's not jeans and a T-shirt. It's not Bermuda shorts and a Hawaiian shirt. It's not even khakis and an untucked polo shirt.

What to wear: For a lot of men who don't have office jobs, dressing "casually" is actually dressing up, as opposed to dressing down. Casual actually describes the state of dress that comes when a man is dressed up, but not formal. For example, at a casual event, you could wear a jacket with an open-collared shirt. That jacket can even be of a light color. You can wear shoes that are not black, as long as they're not sneakers, and as long as they match your attire and are the same color as your belt.

Also note that at some casual events, it may be better to wear a tie. Once again, the tie can be of a light color and may be patterned. As always, if you're unsure about the tie, wear it; if you see that it's unnecessary, just take it off.

When speaking in public
Speaking in public can frazzle a lot of men. No matter how well you dress, it won't make you a great orator, but there are a few tips you can follow to make your life easier.

The key is to wear something that will relax your audience. Even the most attentive person will be distracted by bright colors and wild patterns.

What to wear: Instead of wearing that burnt orange tie, you may want to aim for the calming effect of cool colors, such as blue, green and gray (as opposed to warm colors such as red, orange and yellow). You also want to make sure that any stripes you choose to wear head in the same direction, preferably vertical, so that attention is drawn to your face.

If possible, go monochrome. Being dressed all in the same color is not only trendy, but it also focuses your audience's attention. Without any lines or breaks in color to catch their eyes, they have little choice but to focus on your words

Fashion Tip: Don't Make These Fashion Mistakes

Fashion Tip: Don't Make These Fashion Mistakes

1. This is the general rule for the men owning this type of figure. In order to cover the faults of a figure not belonging to a tall, skinny 'giraffe' type model, you need to follow some essential tricks.
- Your aim is to elongate your body. The most frequent mistake petite men making in terms of clothing is cutting their bodies by using pieces of clothes as jackets and belts in the wrong proportions. Wearing large belts on top of trousers together with shirts of different color is not the best choice as it cuts the body in two parts, drawing attention to the shortness of the figure.
- You should also avoid wearing extra fabric around the waist. You already possess a good amount of volume in this area and the last thing you need adding some more.
- A false myth is the idea that very long trousers make your legs look long. Very long, baggy trousers make your legs look shorter. Long trousers may make you look taller if they go down to the ankle level and if they are straight.
- A good trick to elongate your legs is to wear straight trousers that cover your shoes. This will definitely add some extra inches to your legs.
- Mixing colors is permitted for petite men but remember that it is the monochromatic clothing that makes you look taller and slimmer.
- Avoid wearing thick fabric clothing as it adds extra weight to your figure.

- The best trick to elongate your body is to wear vertical lines patterned clothing. But keep in mind not to exaggerate as you will end up looking like a zebra. It is enough to wear a pair of jeans that have a vertical line in the seams and you will create the illusion of a taller person. Just one or two lines are enough to create this illusion. Try to avoid wearing clothing items with multiple vertical lines or mixing two garments with lines pattern.
- If you also have some extra pounds, the best way to hide them is to fit properly the clothing items. Remember that oversize t-shirts don't hide extra pounds, they make people look baggy, without any shape - Too tight means too bad. However very tight clothes are risky too.
Properly fitted clothes help you show the best of your body. Never wear clothes that show an open view of your tummy. It will only call attention to this wrong part of your figure.
- And the 'must do' rule for short men is to always wear high heels – do a google search. And keep in mind: any figure fault can be covered by using the right piece of clothing.

Clothing that is fashionable and stylish!

Clothing that is fashionable and stylish!

Clothing encompasses a wide range of apparel. From big and tall men’s clothing to women’s clothing. How we dress ourselves and what we wear tells the people around us a lot about who we are. Clothing has always been subject to change based on the dictates of fashion and whims. Some things however, about clothing don’t change. Quality. Quality clothing will always be in demand. Durability. Durable men’s and women’s clothing are always popular.

Clothing not only covers our bodies, it also allows us to enhance our appearance. A quality, sharp suit on a man makes him look more professional and successful. An attractive dress on a woman makes her look stylish and confident. There are so many different clothing options to choose from, that at times it can appear overwhelming. Don’t let that bother you. With a little thought and reflection you can come up with a clothing style that truly reflects who you are.

A few suggestions to consider are these: Decide what clothing you feel comfortable in. Now, let’s take define casual clothes for a moment here. Casual is defined as relaxed, comfortable, sporty, laid-back and informal. Now, if that’s the case, I don’t see a problem with wearing casual clothes clubbing. Obviously, we want to look good when we go clubbing because of the fact that we either want to attract the opposite sex, look classy or perhaps keep our image intact.
But I have seen lots of men and celebrities who look fanta-bulous in casual clothes in clubs too. In fact, what you can do is flip through some magazines and you’ll soon see that even celebrities wear casual clothes clubbing. The point is that we’re comfortable in the casual clothes that we wear and don’t compromise the way we look.
First off, the casual clothes that you choose to wear to go clubbing should have nice colors. If you feel like it, wear something with attractive prints. Perhaps, with a popular saying or an expressive t-shirt or something. Casual clothes that give you a personality boost. Casual clothes that gives you character – no, let me say that again, casual clothes that enhance your personal character.

As long as you don’t choose casual clothes that are either too baggy and the casual clothes should make you look neat and presentable. When you’re wearing casual clothes clubbing, slippers, sandals and sports shoes are totally out of the question, regardless of the attire. The belts and accessories that you have on with your casual clothes will definitely make a big difference to your clubbing experience. Try a nice little casual tank top with cropped khaki pants with large hoop earrings for a change.
You’re not expected to be able to afford the kind of clubbing clothes that a CEO or royalty can afford but it’s essential that you invest in good quality casual clothes for clubbing. The bottom line is your clubbing casual clothes should never be your gym clothes or jeans. Well, ok, sometimes you can pull it off with nicely pressed casual clothes with jeans.

12 Ways to Organize Your Laundry

12 Ways to Organize Your Laundry

1. Develop a system and follow it consistently. Allow your family one month to adjust to it before you alter it.

2. Enlist your family's help. Make each person responsible for transporting their clothing to and from the laundry room. Even a five-year-old can handle that task.

3. Let children help you with the laundry. It's the best way for them to learn.

4. Do all your laundry in one day OR do a couple of loads each evening -- whichever works better for you.

5. Take the lids off your hampers. Make it easy to put dirty clothes where they belong.

6. Have a hamper in each room. However, if you have enough space, place all hampers in the laundry room. Label them according to wash loads (whites, towels, jeans, dark colors,....). Have each person sort their clothes into the hampers each
night. Wash a load whenever a hamper is full enough.

7. Teach everyone in the family to make a decision about each piece of clothing as they take it off. There are three options: clean (return to closet), hang to air

8. Keep a backup supply of detergent, softener and stain remover. When you open the last one, add it to the grocery
list. Laundry items are so expensive it pays to stock up whenever there is a sale.

9. Pick up a good stain remover chart and POST it in the laundry room.

10. Have a designated place for items which need mending. Every week or month, mend them or drop them off at the
seamstress.

11. Hang a bag in your closet or in the laundry room for dry clean only items. Set up a routine to drop off and pick up on certain days each month. Some dry cleaners will even deliver.

12. Keep a small basket in the laundry room for "found" items such as money and buttons. Use another one for
mate-less socks since they will probably show up next time.

10 Easy Steps to Organize Your Clothes Closet

10 Easy Steps to Organize Your Clothes Closet
The clothes closet is one of the fastest places in our households to get cluttered. It’s so easy to stick something that you don’t know what to do with in the closet. After all it’s out of the way and keeping some other part of your house from becoming cluttered.
The clothes closet also becomes a storage area for clothing and accessories that are outdated, ripped, or stained. It is a holding place for clothes that might come back into style, accessories that were bargain but we don’t really like, and things that cost us a fortune but that we’ll never wear again because we don’t like them, don’t fit into them, or don’t lead that kind of life anymore.
Cleaning out a clothes closet can hurt. It’s hard to throw away stuff that is still good, stuff that cost us a lot of money. But it has to be done. So think ahead to how good it will feel to have a closet filled with all of the things you like. Think ahead to how good it will feel to see everything in your closet. Think how nice it will feel to look in your closet and not feel guilty about all those things you have but can’t wear anymore. Be ruthless, have fun and organize your closet!
1.Begin by getting the proper supplies: plenty of hangers, an expandable shoe rack, belt hook, tie rack, a closet doubler (another hanging clothes rod that hangs from your current one) or pants and skirts hangers (the kind that hold multiple pairs). I prefer the closet doubler; I find it more convenient to see and get to the clothes I want.
2.Remove everything (yes, everything!) from your closet. As you remove items place them in one of five piles: KEEP, REPAIR, GIVE AWAY, THROW AWAY, MOVE.

3.The KEEP pile should be things that belong in your closet that meet these criterions: they fit you now, you like the way you look in them now and they are in style now. This includes all clothes, shoes, hats, belts, ties, etc. If you are not sure it fits, try it on now. Your KEEP pile should include the clothes you love to wear and the clothes that make you feel good when you wear them. It should include your special occasion wardrobe, too, as long as it meets the above criterion.
4.The REPAIR pile is for those items you want to keep but need a repair. If you are sure you will wear them once they are repaired, take them to your local dry cleaner or alterations shop and have them repaired. If you can (and want) to do the work yourself, gather the repair items, put them in your repair center and give yourself two weeks to repair them. If you haven’t gotten around

to them by then, gather up the clothing and donate it.
5.The GIVE AWAY pile should be the articles of clothing (or other items that found their way into your closet) that don’t meet the above criterion but that are in good shape. Put these articles in a box or bag and put them in the trunk of your car now. At your earliest convenience take them to your local charity. Remember to get a receipt for tax purposes.
6.The THROW AWAY pile is for all of those things that no longer serve any useful purpose. This includes items that are ripped or stained. Bag those items up and put them out with your household trash now.
7.The MOVE pile is for those items that don’t belong in your closet. Take the time now to put those items where they belong. If there is no room to put a particular item away, make note of the area and put it on your list of places to declutter. Stuff it in there for now or put it in the garage, but don’t put it back in your closet.
8.Now you are ready to put all of the things you want to keep back in your closet. Sort out your KEEP pile into types of clothing. Separate your slacks, your shirts or blouses, your jackets, suits, etc.
9.Start with one type and hang each item neatly on a hanger, facing all items and hangers the same direction. If you share a closet with someone, keep your clothing separate.
10.When you are finished with the hanging portion, put your shoes on your shoe rack, your ties on the tie rack, your belts on the belt hook. Once again, if you share a closet keep your items separate. If you have some odds and ends that need a home in your closet, consider buying some inexpensive organizing containers to store them. Many people are finding that an over-the-door pocket shoe holder is great for odds and ends and accessories. You can see through the pockets and the items are easily accessible.
Wow! You did it. Doesn’t it feel good? Stand back and look at your closet and give yourself a pat on the back. Invite your friends over to see all of your hard work. Celebrate by treating yourself to something special. You deserve it.

4 Tips On Buying Casual Clothing

4 Tips On Buying Casual Clothing
Oh, we all know men love nothing more than a sale or a bargain, don’t we?
How times have changed.
And casual clothing for men is always on sale – if one store isn’t on sale, the other one probably is! So, in terms of casual clothing for men, there are absolutely no problems in finding sales.
Here are some quick tips to help you pick and choose casual clothing for men during sales and closeouts:-
Examine the casual clothing before you buy
Before you pick it up, remember, the casual clothing that you’re looking at has been probably tested a few hundred times before this. So, a little bit of wear and tear on the casual clothing is to be expected. If they’re not worn out or at least a little bit stretched, the casual clothing store probably won’t be putting it up for sale, don’t you think?

Check the seams and edges to see if they are OK. And if you want value for money, check for holes and detached labels and discoloration too. Yeah, we know, it’s on sale and we should expect TOP QUALITY casual clothing for that kind of pricing, but STILL, you want value attached to the casual clothing. You’re still PAYING for it, not getting it for free, surely.
Testing the casual clothing out before you take it to the cashier
I know, this sounds so logical and yet so important. Never buy casual clothing or any other types of clothing without testing them out first. The sizing and cutting is very, very important. What looks good on the shelves or mannequin may not look as good on you. The shape and size of your body is very different from the mannequin, so, take it to the fitting room and try the casual clothing out for shape and size.
Is the casual clothing REALLY on sale?
I don’t know about you, but I think this is when window shopping actually makes sense. Let’s say if I see a casual clothing that I like, I’ll go in and take a look and note the pricing. When they hold a sale or discount, I’ll know if they’re cheating or not. Some casual clothing stores DO actually cheat and they say their normal pricing is $49 when it’s only $35. I know, I know. it sounds petty and calculative, but hey, you want to get value casual clothing or what? I don’t know about you, but I don’t want to be one of those easily excitable casual clothing enthusiast (erm…which, I think I am).
Check out other casual clothing stores before you decide
This lesson, I learnt one time when I bought a fabulous and chic looking casual shirt to the counter, paid for it, and walked out to see a similar casual clothing on sale in the store opposite the store I bought it from! Boy, was I fuming. So, what I do now is to note the casual clothing that I like and the store, look around other casual clothing store and then if I can’t find something similar for a cheaper price or something better, I’ll go back to the casual clothing store and GRAB IT!!

Eyebrows

Bushy eyebrows are a tricky problem. Evolution gave you these strips of strategically placed hair to catch perspiration as it runs down your forehead. They also help to shade the eyes from the sun. Androgens, the hormones that make you male, sometimes get carried away and produce far too much hair that's also far too strong and far too long!!

Sorting out overhanging, hairy eyebrows is not that difficult when you know what to do.

Firstly avoid the following:
Don't shave them - they will return thicker with blunt ends. They will also look daft as they grow back!

Don't cut them off in chunks or they will look like well-trimmed hedgerows

Lock yourself in the bathroom with a good mirror and a pair of decent tweezers (invest in some good ones that really grip the hair). Run the tweezers under very hot water or dip in surgical spirit to sterilise them.

If you have just had a shower or bath the pores will be open and the hair will come out more easily, if not place a hot flannel over the brows for a few minutes. Always stretch the skin as you go, otherwise you may pull out more than you bargained for!

With your fingers brush the hairs downwards and any that look too long or too wiry pull out with a firm tug. Your pulling technique is important as they come out much easier if you follow the direction of growth.

Pluck hairs towards your ears except in between the eyebrows where the top ones should be plucked upwards and the bottom downwards. Yes it does hurt a bit, but you get used to it!

Pluck some hairs out under the arch of the brow but don't overdo it. You aren't aiming for an arch just a naturally tidy look. If any grow too far down your temples pull those out too. If they grow down too low they can make your eyes appear droopy and sad!

If your eyebrows meet in the middle they can give a dark, sinister appearance. The skin is a living organ, prone to environmental changes and in a constant state of change and regeneration. You may therefore go through phases of different skin types. The common types are:

Normal Skin
You have normal skin if it has the following characteristics:
Even-textured.
Problem free without spots or blemishes.
Looks smooth, healthy and clear.
With no signs of oily or dry areas, the skin is soft and smooth with good elasticity and firmness.
The skin pores are small to medium sized.
Tips to keep normal skin looking good:
Follow a sensible skincare routine using a good quality facial wash every day and a scrub once or twice a week.
Use a light-weight moisturiser that won't overload the skin at least once a day.
Use products that maintain hydration and water-based moisturisers.

Remember If you are lucky enough to have normal skin without any specific problems it will be clear, even-toned and look fresh and healthy. Your main priority is to keep it that way with a simple skin care routine using products that won't dry it out or make it too oily.

Oily Skin
You have oily skin if it has the following characteristics:
Greasy and shiny, especially on the T-zone (forehead, nose and chin)
Is prone to open pores, blackheads, spots and pimples.
Dull looking and patchy.
Tips for oily skin:
Keep it as clean as possible by using a good quality facial wash twice a day, a facial scrub two or three time a week and an oil-free moisturiser that will leave the skin matt, once a day.
A clay mask used weekly, can also make a big difference. As the clay dries it absorbs the excess oil from the pores, along with dirt and dead skin cells. This helps to keep the pores clean. Over a period of time a clay mask will help to reduce the appearance of open pores as the blockages that make them appear larger are removed.
With larger pores, oily skin is more coarse in texture and is the most prone to pimples, blackheads and whiteheads. By attracting more dirt, oily skin should be washed several times a day using a light facial wash and warm water. Use a water-based moisturiser afterwards.

.Take care not to over stimulate oily skin with harsh products or those that will over dry the skin. Dry skin is flaky and feels tight because of inadequate oil secretion.
Tips for dry skin:
Use a gentle facial wash that won't dry the skin further.
Use a facial scrub only once a week to remove dead cells but don't rub too hard or for too long.
Use a good moisturiser twice a day.
Avoid shaving foams and soap that will dry the surface layer of the skin.
Use sun protection of at least factor 15 when ever you are outside.
Drink plenty of water (beer and wine don't count!) to prevent dehydration especially if you work in an air conditioning office.
Wash once or twice a day with a creamy facial cleanser or facial wash with warm water. Use a moisturiser afterwards and avoid alcohol-based products that tend to dry out the skin.
Rich, milky cleansing creams and moisturizers will be more protective than light lotions.
Make sure your face is still lightly damp when applying creams as this will seal in moisture.
Use a night cream as well, which is an especially rich moisturizer, to nourish your skin while you are asleep.
Sensitive Skin
You have sensitive skin if it has the following characteristics:
Reacts to many skincare and shaving products, usually turning red and botchy.
Has a tendency to go red when touched, exposed to heat or to the sun.
Reacts to certain foods or fragrances that cause a rash or make your skin itch.
May have broken red veins on the cheeks and nose.
Sensitive skin is prone to damage from environmental factors (wind, sun and cold weather)

Tips for sensitive skin:
Avoid anything containing harsh chemicals or a lot of perfume.
Avoid soap and always try to select products designed for sensitive skin.
Always protect sensitive skin from the sun even in cooler weather.
Patch test any new products on the inside of your wrist before using them on your face.
Use fragrance-free facial wash and moisturisers. Skin exfoliants are best avoided.

So much artistry goes into making good suit that you'd be crazy not to arm yourself with our indispensable guide to finding the right one

Bespoke: The ultimate in tailoring and the male equivalent of a couture dress. The term comes from the word “bespoken”, meaning the customer describes to the tailor exactly what he wants.

Made to measure: Many firms offer a suit halfway between bespoke and off-the-peg. Termed Special Make or made-to-measure, these suits usually involve adjusting a set pattern to your measurements while you choose the cloth and various other details.

Off the peg: A standard suit bought from a store, either high street or designer. You have to make sure the fit is good since the only options for adjustments are shortening of trouser legs and sleeves.

Does it fit:
Shoulder width: The collar should fit flush against the back of the neck. Anything too wide will badly affect the balance of the jacket.

Arm Holes: Should be tight but not too uncomfortable. Too big and the jacket will ride up the back when you reach out.

Cuff and Jacket length: let your arms hang naturally, then curl up your palms. The cuff should fit snugly in each hand. The jacket length is a matter of taste

Trouser length: Trousers should rest on the shoe and buckle roughly three inches up for the hem. The buckle should be half an inch.

Crotch: You should be able to slip your hands comfortably inside the pockets.

Patterns: With checks or stripes, make sure the pattern on the collar and sleeves lines up with the back of the jacket. Lapels should line with the front.

Shoulder Padding: This affects the overall shape. If you have small or sloping shoulders go for heavier padding

Stitching: The hallmark of quality stitching should be neat and firm. Look around the button holes and ensure that there are several rounds of even stitching. Hand stitching is best, but it sometimes looks uneven next to machine work.

Lapel: Standard lapel width is between 3 and 4 inches. It varies, of course, but just be sure the proportion is pleasing – and there’s not too small a gap between the outer edge and your shoulder.

Armholes: Watch out for tightness at the bottom of your armpit. Armholes should be wide enough to allow you to freely move your arms

Button: A weak pointing many poor quality suits. These should be well sewn in., with no loose threads, and be tight when fastened, but allowing enough leeway for them to be easy to fasten

Sleeves: Should come to between half and a quarter of an inch of the end of the cuff., ideally at the mid point of your wrist bone while your arms are by your side.

Rise: The area between the crotch and waistband is important. The taller the man, The longer the rise should be.

Front: You can choose between pleatless flat-fronted , single-pleated and double pleated trousers. The cleanest and smoothest (and therefore most fashionable at the moment) is a flat front.

Shape: Should be smooth., with no bulging or creasing and not tight on our legs. The modern suit tends to avoid cuffs

Stress Free Style

Take the hassle out of looking good with these simple rules

Use a building block
Build your wardrobe around a couple of basic colours that suit you. Making u look short and wide, keep tones matching on the top and bottom and avoid anything that includes big blocks of colors. – it’ll make u look blocky. Pick subtle patterns that draw the eye away from ur problem areas.

Wear Trousers with a high rise
That's the distance from waistband to crotch. They'll make your legs look longer. The illusion is even more effective if the trousers are pinstriped.

Stick to small turn-ups on your trousers - anything more than 3/4 inch will make you look shorter.

Stay away from trousers made bulky fabrics - such as tweed and corduroy - if your rear-end is bigger than you'd like. Go for gabardineor wool instead, which look smooth and lie flat

Stick to flat fronted trousers
This will help smooth out your profile

Pick the right suit
Buy one that fits neatly. Go for pinstripe-all those vertical lines will make u look taller and slimmer. Choose a 2 button suit that reveals a lot of shirt above the buttons – the reason is that high button suits emphasise your stomach. Avoid double breasted suits which only serve to make u look wider.

Go for three- button single breasted jackets.
They create an illusion of height by keeping your silhouette narrow, and the higher buttoning of the jacket keeps eyes away from your midsection.

Choose jackets that taper slightly at the hip
This will appear to elongate your body slightly and give it the classic 'V' shape.

Untuck your shirt
Tucking your shirt in adds bulk to your frame-go for a flat bottomed, open necked shirt that is designed to be worn untucked.

Shirts with high collars draw the eye upwards, making you look taller; ones with open, flappy collars draw the eye sidewards and make you look wider.

Wear a loose collar if you've got a double chin. A tight one will just squeeze your extra flesh upwards, and make it more prominent. Also, use loosly knotted ties to draw the eye away from the danger zones.

Go for a v neck
High necked and crew necked tops can make a chubby face even rounder, while v necks help to lengthen to the body, making u appear taller and thinner। They also help camouflage double chins by drawing away attention from the neck

Vertical Stripes make you look thin
They draw the eye to the vertical dimension rather than the horizontal, while horizontal stripes will accentuate width so they're best avoided on the parts of the body you want to minimise.

Opt for narrow-striped trousers or shirts
These will draw the eye downwards, creating an illusion of height and reduced weight

Becoming a Culture Vulture

Culture isn't about how many Opera Cd's you own. Wear it Marlon Brando or James Dean style with a pair of Levi’s or layered beneath a shirt, a casual jacket or an unstructured suit.

Navy Blue 3 button single breasted suit
The beauty of this look is that it never goes out of style. A wool suit can be dressed up with a stiff-collared shirt and silk tie, or you can wear the components separately.
Black Oxford Shoes
The Oxford is the most classic men’s formal shoe. With a straight seam across the toe, and a seam curving around the foot in line with the ankle, it’s a simple style and ideal to wear with any formal suit. They can also be worn with structured casual trousers and an open-neck shirt without looking incongruous.
Formal Cotton shirt
A good shirt will have several design features: plastic collar-bones in the peaks of the collar for shaping; the more stitches per inch the better (about 20 per inch is ideal); mother of pearl buttons, and a strengthening gusset between front and back panels at the base.
Khaki cotton trousers
Khakis or Chinos as they’re also known are the classic bridge between jeans and more formal trousers and can be worn with just about anything.
Casual Jacket
The classic is The Harrington: slim, with a zip-front, and collar in finely woven cotton. A Harrington worn with a T-shirt and jeans / khakis remains the coolest outfit of casual outfits.

Jeans
‘Nuff said. Best worn loose or slim.

Short sleeved shirt
This is a key piece in any summer wardrobe. It can be worn smart and well pressed or crumpled with jeans. Stick to cotton and linen

V-neck sweater
This is one of the most versatile garments in any mans wardrobe. With worn-in jeans and a simple t-shirt it’s the essence of easy going style, while with smart trousers and a collared shirt it’s classic relaxed-but-formal. The key quality factor here is the fibre content. And you cannot go wrong with cashmere

Taken with permission from www.metrosexualman.eu
